Oh dear, I've fallen into it again..

Well it's true, after spending a lot of time contemplating my return to the blogosphere, I did give in and will resume blogging, effective immediately! My initial concern was that I will not have enough to blog about or any specific things I may want to write about. However, what I did discover is I do have things I want to talk and blog about.

I will hereby turn this blog right around and you can expect to see me blog about the following topics:
  1. Motorsports. I've recently joined my company's racing team. This adds to my previous track experience, so I guess it's about time I start talking cars as much as I love driving them.

  2. Paintball. Cuz it's awesome. And now that I have all my gear, it's time to terrorize the office.

  3. Video Games. I play a lot of them. It's time to take it a bit seriously.

  4. Campus Radio ME. Along with Ritesh, I started this almost a year ago. Here, I will talk about recent news, updates etc.

  5. Movies. I spend a lot of nights burning through DVDs. Why not share my views? :)

By any means, this list is not exhaustive. But possibly a teaser of things to come.

See you guys around!

Eeeeeyyyyiiieeesh...

In my history of playing the sport or doing anything competitive or in front of an audience, this is not the first time I've fumbled. And even though my fumble did not cost us the game, it DID cost me my confidence and trust in my own capabilities.

I've made the same mistake before, but never competitively. And it HAS resulted in goals earlier too, but this time it was different. This time it set us back one. This time it was for a team and we were playing a game that mattered. I've made the same mistake competitively earlier only difference was I won the ball right back. Something went wrong this time and I fu*ked up. They netted the ball and I walked right off the field.

Even the coach's raised voice barely entered my mind. "You fu*ked up," seemed to be on repeat in my brain. Had we not come back so ferociously, my screw up would have cost us the damn game. I would have been responsible for an entire team's disappointment and waste of strength and sweat.

Thanks Anup for netting two. I owe ya.

Bob Woolmer, Born 1948. Murdered 2007. A repost

Just a few minutes ago, I called up on of my Pakistani friends to discuss a possible recreational plan. However I was almost immediately exposed to a tirade of, "I have some serious criticism about your blog, I'm gonna swear ," etc etc etc. I asked what the problem was almost knowing what it would be. Turned out to be just that.

The gist:

Zuberi said...

died for the passions of another country?

did i just miss the news? no where does is state that it was a Pakistani fan or Pakistani suspect that was responsible or claimed to be responsible for bob's death.
Please don't state something that you aren't sure about and have in fact no proof to justify it..

good day!

My response:

If you misinterpret not my fault. I will change the post so as to not "offend" your patriotic feelings.

Now, logic. Check to see WHEN the post was written. Wednesday, March 21, 2007. One day BEFORE it was confirmed that he was murdered. Till I wrote this post, it was still speculated and to a larger part believed that he was killed due to, and I quote, a, "stress-induced" heart attack. (And I'm quoting you and Ahad btw).

So yes, when I wrote that post, I DID believe that it was the passion of Pakistani people and all that was riding on Woolmer's shoulders that caused him stress, and hence killed him. Cause and Effect. Read the post again with this in mind and it makes perfect sense. And till then you could not have called me a blaspheme by posting your comment because what I said made perfect sense. However TODAY, on the 24th of March, when it was confirmed that he was in fact murdered, my comments seem derogatory to the country. For that I apologise. If I seemed to blame a Pakistani for it then I'm sorry too. However, were you even the little bit logical you would see when I wrote that post and understand that in those circumstances, my comments were infallible.

Coming to the second issue. Convenient that you comment on this only after it was confirmed that he was murdered and not until it was thought that it was either a suicide or natural death. In the light of murder my post suddenly seems to be pointing a finger at Pakistanis. I mean, if you DID comment earlier you would just seem stupid. Oh well.

However now that we know he was in fact MURDERED I believe my comments are obsolete. For the mistiming, I'm sorry. As to your comment: Balls to that.

Good Day!

Bob Woolmer, 1948 - 2007

The ICC Cricket World Cup went under way a while ago, but unfortunately was terribly tarnished by the unfortunate death of the Pakistani Coach, Bob Woolmer, after they were eliminated by Ireland. He was found lying in a pool of vomit after a suspected stress-induced heart attack. Speculation is wild though, that Bob Woolmer was, in fact, murdered.

In that regard, let us all keep a minute of silence for a man who died. [EDIT] text removed [EDIT]

RIP Bob Woolmer, 1948 - 2007.

UAE wins the Gulf Cup!

Today, Ismail Mattar helped UAE secure the Gulf Cup final and led UAE to its first ever victory in the Gulf Cup since they first qualified for it.

Congratulation to the locals going crazy outside my house. Now we can hear their cars go on and on till the wee hours of the morning. To be honest though, this is quite a victory considering we beat Saudi Arabia (The main Arab country that has been to the World Cup Final round) and other big countries like Kuwait etc.

All around town, you can see scores of happy fans riding in their vehicles, hazards on, windows rolled down, flags baring and horns blazing in tune. Good on 'em Emiratis!

Go UAE!!!

and..and...aanndd... ARSENAL WIN THE PREMIERSHIP!!!

Ok so we didn't really "win" the premiership per se, but I know that I'm most DEFINITELY not the only Gooner who thought that.

Foot-In-Mouth disease is not very hard to come by but this takes the cake. I had 3 Mancs in my house watching the match. Right about the 82nd minute, when the Mancs thought they had the game, the witty comments started pouring out of their mouths. We were all ODed on pizzas and sodas so it was all in good nature. That all changed in the 83rd minute when RvP blasted the ball into the roof of the goal equalizing the score. Suddenly the only voice heard was mine. It was all square at 1-1, which was good considering we came up from behind. I would have been happy with a draw, we would have avoided our first defeat at Emirates Stadium. Pleased with myself and the performance of the team, I settled down into the couch to watch the last few minutes of the game. Extra time had been announced. 4 minutes. The match was good as sealed as a draw.

That is, until Eboue's cross found Henry's head, which led the ball to the back of the Away Team Goal at Emirates Stadium in the 93rd minute. That was it. Pande - fucking - monium. Henry's bullet left van der Sar no options but to stretch and watch that ball hit the back of his net. Soda was spilled on the floor, kids were left crying, cars stopped midway across the driveway in front of my house because all that could be heard was, "YYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" emulating from villa no. 7.

That was one of the best matches you could have watched in a while.

Life is good once again...
